Coucou Food Market - Glockenbach is a cozy café nestled on Holzstraße, offering a relaxed spot for locals and visitors seeking a quiet coffee break or a casual breakfast in Munich’s Glockenbachviertel. With its unassuming exterior, it’s the kind of place you might miss if you’re not looking closely, but those who do find it appreciate the intimate atmosphere and approachable vibe.

This café serves as a handy stop for grabbing a fresh croissant or a sandwich, often enjoyed alongside a cup of coffee sourced from a reputable Munich roaster. The pastries here, especially the pain au chocolat and classic croissants, tend to draw repeat visitors looking for quality over flash. While some sweet options like the carrot cake land on the modest side flavor-wise, the overall bakery selection offers satisfying, well-crafted treats that work well for grabbing a bite to go or lingering over a light snack.

The seating inside is snug rather than spacious, encouraging a more laid-back visit rather than a bustling café scene. It’s ideal on quieter mornings or mid-afternoon pauses when you want a break from the busy city rhythms. The staff bring a pleasant touch, delivering friendly service that feels both genuine and efficient without fuss.

Coucou Food Market attracts a mix of nearby residents and office workers who appreciate straightforward, filling pastries paired with reliable coffee. It’s a nice example of a neighborhood café where the emphasis is clearly on everyday comfort and good basics rather than on elaborate menus or trendy concepts. English and German service makes it accessible, reflecting the diverse mix of locals and travelers passing through Glockenbach.

Overall, this spot works best if you’re after a simple, no-frills bakery and coffee experience in a warm environment that encourages slowing down for a moment — especially suited for those who enjoy classic French-inspired pastries and quiet conversations over coffee.

A cozy little cafe with a warm atmosphere. The carrot cake was decent, but nothing stood out, while the coffee leaned towards the bitter side for my taste. The highlight was the pain au chocolat, which I really enjoyed. A nice spot overall, but not a must-visit for the food alone.

very charming place, which doesn't look like much from the outside. I tasted an excellent pain au chocolat, much better than in some French bakeries in Munich

Having frequented this café over the past year, I seriously recommend it to anyone who enjoys tasty, filling and good-looking pastries! The espresso is also absolutely worth a shot ;) And then there's the piece de resistance; the staff! The team here are wonderful and will gladly take your orders and answer your questions in both German and English. If you're ever around Sendlinger Tor, explore our wonderful Viertel and give Coucou a visit!
